What I love most about the practice of medicine is witnessing how resilient our bodies are and how capable of healing they are when given the right tools and proper support.
I believe we can all live healthier lives and experience more vitality and joy in the lives we live. I’d love to help you discover what is possible for your health!
What matters most to you is the key to unlocking your well-being.
We all have values whether we are aware of them or not and whether we live them or not. It can be extremely difficult (physically and emotionally) to unravel our health histories, to receive a diagnosis we don’t want, and to be confronted with the need for changes in our habits. Yes, I too have been there. After years of antibiotics for a multitude of different infectious processes, exposure to an array of environmental toxins, and an imbalanced lifestyle, I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, an autoimmune condition.
Our current state of health indicates where we have been.
By looking at our past, absent of judgment, we develop an understanding of our predicament. Understanding is the foundation for compassion which liberates possibility. While both genetics and environment play roles in what illness(es) may arise in an individual, our environment accounts for 90% of our state of health. This is truly terrific news because it means we can edit our state of health.
Our current actions indicate what our future state of health will be.
We do what we know until we know something different. For me, I now know that nutrition, relationships, sleep, rest, play, a meaningful and purposeful life, and movement are the bedrock of health. Attending to these factors, supports my life values of being loving, attentive and contributing to the world.
Health though is not an endpoint.
Rather, health is a state of being that is undergoing constant refinement. We, our bodies, minds and spirits, are not done making refinements until our last breath. Yes, I too am in the process.
I work with women and men 16 years of age and older and while I see a wide variety of patients, I love working in these areas: digestive issues, fatigue, pain, hormone imbalances, autoimmune diseases, and healthy aging. In 2024 I completed a certification in Root Cause Dermatology. As such I have additional expertise in addressing these nine dermatological issues via functional medicine: alopecia areata, acne, eczema, rosacea, seborrheic dermatitis (dandruff), psoriasis, and keratosis pilaris.
When not at Vytal Health, you can find me hiking, walking dogs, reading, cooking, camping, meditating, and of course, tending to home.
More about Irene
Beyond the kind and loving man in my life since 2017, the two biggest consistent blessings spanning the entirety my life have been dogs and yoga. Dogs for their unconditional love, and yoga as a path of healing and well-being. If we were to meet up out of the office, you would likely see me caring for our doggies or practicing some form of yoga be it movement, breath work, or meditation. You may also see me cooking, exercising, reading, listening to podcasts or Audible, nature bathing, camping, hiking, spending time with family or tending to family.
