Treating Your Specific Hormonal Imbalances

Many of our patients coming to us for hormonal imbalances – whether they’re caused by the thyroid, pituitary, ovaries, or other glands  – are tired of seeing little improvement from traditional medicine. Through functional medicine, we take the time necessary to learn about you, your medical history, and the current state of your body to uncover the root cause of your imbalances. If you’re looking to dig deeper into your symptoms and eliminate them for good, we are here to help.

Treating Your Specific Hormonal Imbalances
What is a hormonal imbalance?

The term “hormonal imbalance” can sound vague, but that’s because everyone experiences it differently. Simply put, hormonal imbalances occur when there is too much or too little of a hormone to do its job. The hormones that people are most familiar with are testosterone and estrogen, but our bodies circulate about 50 different hormones. When working the way they should, they act as chemical messengers that coordinate things like metabolism, fertility, immunity, and your behavior (i.e. the output of stress, depression, etc.). At Vytal Health, our physicians use their expertise and findings from in-depth, at-home lab testing to determine how hormones are affecting your body specifically.

What are some common symptoms?

The most common symptoms that our patients first notice are physical changes like losing or gaining weight or are sex-related, like changes in libido or in their menstrual cycle. Though those symptoms tend to be the most noticeable, patients are usually experiencing other effects too such as:

  • Hot flashes or sweats
  • Fatigue
  • Mood changes
  • Insomnia
  • Hair loss
  • Fluid retention
  • Skin changes, acne, skin irritation
  • Digestion issues

How do you diagnose hormonal imbalances?

If your Vytal Health physician suspects that you have a hormonal imbalance, he or she will order a simple saliva, urine, and/or blood test. These tests tell us how much your hormones fluctuate throughout the day or month, how well your body makes and breaks down hormones, and if you have any imbalances that need correcting. With your results in hand at a follow-up appointment, your Vytal Health doctor will determine a personalized treatment plan for you, which considers your specific medical history, diet, and lifestyle.

How will I feel after going through a treatment plan?

At Vytal Health, the journey to treat your hormone imbalances is meant to empower and teach you how to navigate your sensitivities, notice when your body feels off-balance, and take control of eliminating your symptoms. Equipped with a results-driven treatment plan, your life is no longer subject to the negative effects of an imbalance. Instead of feeling confused and frustrated about your health, you’ll actually have solutions and actionable ways to feel your best.
